Bristol Room

In this talk, learn how the churches of Central New York addressed emancipation in antebellum America.

At the time, church leaders grappled with how scripture guided Christians on slavery, whether there was a moral imperative to act, or whether the issue was outside the church's purview all together. Presented by Steve Smits, a retired director of Central New York Developmental Disabilities Services Offices and president of the Town of Western Historical Society and sponsored by the Clinton Area Ministerium.
